How He Asked | Our Proposal Story
Since the beginning of our relationship, Timothy and I have always been on the same page about our timeline. We both wanted to get engaged at our 6 month anniversary and get married 3 months after the proposal. Because of this, I was certain he would propose on Tuesday, May, 19th.
That day began approaching quickly and I was growing more concerned that there would be no August wedding dates for us. In case you didn’t know, planning a wedding takes an extended amount of time usually, so trying to plan one in three months is a lofty goal. I was also concerned that all of the brides who were supposed to get married during the COVID-19 crisis would be rescheduled to get married in the fall. All that to say, I wanted to get a head start on picking out a wedding venue to secure an August date, so I scheduled several tours for us and my family on Saturday, May 16th.
The day of the venue tours had come and, of course, it was forecasted to rain all day long. This originally put me in a bad mood but that quickly changed.
We got to our first destination of the day, The Barn at Paradise Plantation and it was just gorgeous! A big white barn with black finishes for the reception and two outdoor ceremony options - it was exactly what we were looking for!
As we were walking around and admiring the property with my parents and Timothy’s sister Jessica, my dad kept wanting to take pictures of us at the two alters that the venue had as options for the ceremony. After we looked at both outdoor spaces, we decided the first one was our favorite! It had a beautiful aisle with greenery along either side that led to the lake on the property. Timothy walked me down the aisle and I was thinking to myself, this might be the place where we get married!
When we got to the alter, Timothy had gotten some rain on his glasses, so he asked me to hold the umbrella while he got out a lens cloth. He got the lens cloth out of his pocket and dropped it on the ground - but little did I know it was a distraction while he got the ring out of his other pocket. He knelt to the ground to pick up the lens cloth but when I looked down, He was holding an engagement ring!
I was so shocked because I was convinced that he would propose on Tuesday when we would celebrate our 6 months! He asked me to marry him and, of course, I said yes! This was such an amazing moment that I’ll remember forever!
Later on in the day, after another venue tour, we decided that we want to get married at The Barn at Paradise Plantation, at the same ceremony location where we got engaged!
It was such a perfect day, and I feel so incredibly blessed that God placed a man who wanted to make this day special! Timothy is a wonderful man and he is one who I’ve been praying for my whole life! Praise be to God!
