God Wants to Bless You
I am always a little skeptical whenever I receive something really good in my life. Whether it is my own salvation, a full-time job offer, or a new relationship - I get insecure and have doubts as to why it was given to me.
My reaction to these gifts from God is usually: Why was this given to me? I am so undeserving.
A million questions, doubts and scenarios run through my head, rather than taking this gift, being grateful for and enjoying it.
I think most people are skeptical when any free gift is offered. What Is the motive behind it? Are there hidden payments attached? Will it be taken from me?
This skepticism really sucks all the joy out of receiving a gift.
What I’ve come to realize is that the enemy will actively try to get me to doubt the goodness of God. The enemy highlights my sin my unworthiness and contrasts it with God holiness. Why would a holy God want to give you anything that is good?
The enemy is telling me half-truths but injecting lies into them. While it is true that I am unworthy of any good gift that God gives to me, the lie is that God somehow resents me for this.
I need to remember that as much as I want to be blessed by God, God wants to bless me! I need to remember the truths in Romans 5:8 and Jeremiah 29:11. Even while I was still a sinner, Christ died for me! God has plans to prosper me and not to harm me!
I shouldn’t drag my feet, or feel guilty for accepting the gift, but instead in need to dance in the joy of that gift! Rejoice in the fact that my sins are paid for in full, and rejoice in the blessings that God gifts to me!
Challenge: Shake off the lies of the enemy that try to ruin the good gifts God gives to you. Rejoice in the fact that we serve a God who genuinely loves us and wants to bless us!
Prayer: Thank you Lord for the gifts in our lives that we don’t deserve. I know that I am a sinner who is deserving of death, but instead you offer me the free gift of eternal life! While life can be hard sometimes, you still choose to bless me in ways that are beyond my understanding. Thank you that you are a good Father who wants to bless your children.
